Covid-19 statement May 6, 2020

Moving forward together for your health and the future of your career.

Since 1944, our community is our top priority. Always has been and always will be.

As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves and local, state, and federal authorities announce plans to reopen California, it has become clear that adjusting our original 2020 California HR Conference schedule is imperative to ensuring the health of our attendees and community.

Rafael Rivera, host of the California HR Conference, and CEO of Professionals In Human Resources Association, announces today the postponement of our 2020 annual event. Please see his official statement below followed by a list of questions you may have regarding this decision and our answers.

As always, you can reach us with questions at info@cahrconference.org

HR Community,

The health and safety of our members and community is our highest priority. Like you, we are monitoring the latest news about the Novel Coronavirus.

Governor Newsom recently outlined a cautious four-step plan to reopen California. The use of the Long Beach Convention Center for our annual conference appears to be contingent on reaching Stage 4.

Because we do not believe it would be feasible to present our event from August 30 – September 2, we are postponing to the fall. Additional details including the implementation of new guidelines based on health experts and elected officials will be announced by June 8.

Your investment is safe with us. We are going to make sure you have multiple options without fees or penalties to transfer or cancel registrations and exhibits. If we are not able to meet in person, we will evolve to offer a virtual experience in 2020.

Thank you for the patience and support. We look forward to hosting you in the fall.

Sincerely,

Rafael

Questions and Answers

Is the 2020 California HR Conference still happening?

Yes, we are creating a hybrid event (both an in-person and virtual experience) over new dates and with a new format.

Why did PIHRA decide to postpone the 2020 California HR Conference?
Based on coronavirus circumstances and Governor Newsom’s cautious four-stage plan to reopen California, we do not believe it would be feasible to present our event from August 30 – September 2. To ensure the health and safety of our practitioners, providers and presenters, we required more time to implement new guidelines based on health experts and elected officials. By creating a hybrid event, we want everyone to experience the California HR Conference in a way that works best for them.
Is there a new refund policy?

Yes. All registered attendees will automatically be transferred to the fall 2020 California HR Conference. Attendees may also defer registrations to the 2021 California HR Conference from August 30 to September 1, 2021 in Long Beach, CA or request a refund. The option to request a refund will open once we announce the new fall dates.

Can I transfer my 2020 California HR Conference registration to the 2021 California HR Conference?

Yes. Please hold onto this request until we publish our official form.

Will I be able to get refunded on my flight reservation?

Attendees should check directly with their airline. Many have updated policies around cancellations regarding the coronavirus travel restrictions.

What will happen if my registration includes a PIHRA membership?
If you request a transfer to the 2021 California HR Conference, your membership may lapse before the start of the conference and you would not have access to member benefits. If you request a refund, you will receive a refund for the conference registration and your membership will remain active until your expiration date.
I was selected to speak at CAHR20 – do you have the new dates for the conference?
Currently, we are creating a hybrid event (both an in-person and virtual experience) over new dates and with a new format. This will require communications to be sent to all speakers once the new dates are set to determine availability and interest in participating in the new format.
